The Hostess with the Mostess

Ok, so before I get to the main purpose of this post, there are a few disclaimers:
1. No, I don't scrapbook, nor do I condone it.
2. No, I don't have my own Etsy shop that I use to sell handmade flower headbands.
3. No, I don't wear a bump-it, nor do I condone its use.
4. No, I don't wear jeans with bedazzles on them, nor do I own a bedazzler.
However, I do love designing, planning, and throwing parties, even the cutesy kind! My latest endeavor (with a lot of help from my sisters and mom) was a safari themed baby shower for Jane that I threw on Saturday, August 13th! It turned out soooooo cute!!! I cooked all the food (yes, despite popular belief, I can cook!), Cracy managed the baked goods, and Jane and my mom helped decorate!
*5th disclaimer - Yes, I'm very proud of myself and think I'm pretty fancy. If that offends you, get over it!
So, now to the good part...the pictures! Hope you enjoy my boasting! :-)
The first one is of the Mommy-to-be herself opening gifts!
The queen of the jungle and Cracy. :-)
All the goodies!

My pride & joy...the invites! OMG I love them! Handwritten and hand-drawn by me!
The invite back.
My favorite element of the shower: the thank you candy bar! It turned out so well!

Well, that's all for now I guess... maybe we'll have another blog post in another 4 months. :-)

The time has finally come for the Leavitt's to jump on the proverbial blog bandwagon.

(Insert loud cheers of excitement here.)

As many of you have probably already heard, Amy and I are moving to San Francisco in September of this year (2011). Amy recently accepted an offer to work with Ernst & Young in their auditing department. For those that are not familiar, E&Y is the largest accounting firm in the United States, and the second largest in the world! So, as you can see, Amy is a fancy/smarty pants.

Not only is this a great opportunity but a dream come true for Amy. So as we realize this great dream of Amy's to work in a big city, we will also be realizing a dream of mine: to become the world's fanciest and most talented house-husband. While Amy is off doing all her cool work stuff and bringing home the dough, I will be doing what every other respectable house-husband should do: establish a new snobby social circle, laundry, make outrageously palatable dinners, and work for "spending" money at a mindless job to keep me from going too stir-crazy at home. My only regret is that this is Oprah's last season and therefor I will be missing out on one of life's greatest pleasures for the stay-at-home spouse. (sigh)

For those of you that are thinking "San Francisco? Why!? Do you realize...":

1) How expensive it is to live there?
2) The state of California is bankrupt?
3) That you are moving so far away from your family and friends?

The answer to all of these questions is "yes"! And we are excited for the possibilities this new opportunity will bring, namely: experience, intrigue, and of course the opportunity to become yuppified (not that we need more help).

Yes, we will miss many of you deeply, but on the bright side at least we are moving to a city that many of you will want to visit. We are not above trading free room and board for visits from loved ones.

Well, I suppose that about does it for now. I'm not sure if this is an acceptable first blog post, or an acceptable post in general, because as you can see, I am 100% a blogging virgin. Of course, that's largely assuming that you are still reading this posting at all, which I'm sure is less than half of you that started reading this rambling-on to begin with.

Until next time...peace out yo's.

XOXO - Dan & Amy
